A death doula is a trained professinal who provides emotional, practical, and informational support to individuals and families as they approach the end of life. Much like birth doulas support families during the arrival of a new life, death doulas support people during life’s final transition. Their role is not medical, but deeply human, offering presence, guidance, and practical help during a time that can feel overwhelming.
At its heart, death doula work is about dignity, presence, and care , helping people and their families move through this chapter of life with compassion and support.
When someone is approaching the end of life, many families want the same thing: for their loved one to remain at home, in a familiar space filled with comfort and memories. But homes are not always designed for the realities of illness, aging, or caregiving. Small changes can make a significant difference, adjusting a room for a hospital bed, improving accessibility, modifying a bathroom, or creating a quieter, more supportive space for care.
By combining experience in home renovation and construction with death doula training, Coeur en Main is able to support families in a unique and practical way. We understand both the physical needs of the home and the emotional needs of the people living in it. This means the work is approached with sensitivity, patience, and respect. Renovations are done thoughtfully, with an awareness that families may be navigating difficult moments. The goal is simple: to help create a home environment that feels safe, comfortable, and supportive, allowing people to focus on what matters most: time together, care,
and dignity.

Friendly and dedicated, Jackson Deschamps brings together years of experience in renovation and construction with a deep commitment to supporting people through life’s transitions. After completing training in end-of-life care in 2020, Jackson became a member of the End of Life Doula Association of Canada and began volunteering at St-Raphaël House, where he provided compassionate support to patients, families, and care teams. Drawing on both his background as a general contractor and his work in palliative care, Jackson now offers thoughtful renovation and home transition services designed to help individuals and families navigate aging, illness, and estate transitions with dignity and care. His approach combines practical craftsmanship with empathy, creating supportive home environments during times when both skill and compassion matter most.
